CES: Android Phones and Palm Pre

The yearly Las Vegas, Nevada spectacle, the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), was held last week. Announcements included great news from Google, Motorola and Palm.

Nexus One, Palm Pre Plus, Motorola BackFlipGoogle launched their first phone, the Nexus One. It runs the latest version of the Android OS on wicked fast hardware. What makes it fairly unique from other phones offered in North America is that it is unlocked - not locked to any particular carrier. Google hopes to offer customers the option of choosing from a number of carriers. So far, T-Mobile offers a plan. In the spring, Verizon and Vodafone will welcome Nexus One owners, too.
Motorola introduced another Android phone. The Motorola BackFlip touts a hands-free video player, music player, digital picture frame and alarm clock. The screen folds backward to meet up with the keyboard, for social networking, email, web browsing, etc.

Palm announced that Verizon will carry updated versions of the Pre and Pixi, the Palm Pre Plus and Palm Pixi Plus. Palm doubled the internal storage to 16GB, and improved the keyboard. Both models will have Wi-Fi.

The Missing Sync provides sync support for all these new phones - the Nexus One, BlackFlip, Palm Pre Plus and Palm Pixi Plus - for contacts syncing, music, photos and more.
